“The Eye Pocket” by E.J. Crow Wows Young Readers, Woos Critics

DNA Press today announced the release of The Eye Pocket, a rollicking fantasy/adventure book for 7-12 year olds. The first in “The Fantastic Society of Peculiar Adventurers” series, this advanced chapter book employs quirky characters, wry wit and weird science to captive readers.
The Eye Pocket tells the story of Bobby Humblebeach, son of an unemployed adventurer, who thinks he lives in America’s most boring town. But when Bobby and two friends stumble across an Eye Pocket – an area of land caught between the past, present and future – Mr. Humblebeach abandons his couch and outfits the gang with the latest adventure equipment. Under cover of darkness, the four explore a world that is everything our planet was and will be. Their mission goes awry, however, when Mr. Humblebeach excavates a gold chest and awakens its wrongful owners!
Readers will delight at how Bobby Humblebeach and his friends refuse to bow to laziness, and how the enthusiasm and awkwardness of Mr. Humblebeach ultimately reveals how some adults may not be so different from children after all. E. J. Crow has written articles for The Boston Globe, New Scientist, and The Christian Science Monitor. He conducted research on anti-poaching efforts and the situation of the Tanzanian game scouts for his M.A. in International Studies from the University of Oregon. Crow is a field agent for The Fantastic Society of Peculiar Adventurers. He lives in Pleasant Hill, California.
