Winner of the ARD RIGH writing competition announced

DNA Press announces the winner of the ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON  THE STONE writing competition.  The competition, open to all high school-aged students, was for the best interpretive essay about Mr. Ray Cattie's book ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON THE STONE  (ISBN 0-9748765-2-6): students had to write an original interpretive essay entitled ""King Arthur as the archetypal hero: how is he relevant to the 21st century reader?" that addressed the plot of the book ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON THE STONE.

The editors at DNA Press judged the essays, with the finalists being judged by Mr. Cattie.   Montour High School (McKees Rocks, PA ) student Alyssa Harrington, sponsored by AP Language and Composition teacher Amy Jarosinski, wrote the first prize-winning essay.  Alyssa will be awarded $100 and her essay will be published as an appendix to the second edition of ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON THE STONE.

Alyssa 's essay will also be published at the DNA Press website http://www.dnapress.com and http://www.amazon.com, as well as on the author's website www.raycttie.com.  In addition, she will also receive an autographed copy of ARD RIGH: THE SWORD ON THE STONE, as well as a certificate of achievement signed by the editors and the author himself.  “Alyssa wrote a very insightful essay,” explains author Ray Cattie. "Her interpretations of the story were very perceptive.  As a writer, I am excited that Alyssa comprehended the intricate relationships and understated metaphors between Arthur and the concept of the "archetypal hero" we so urgently need to revere in today's world.  As a teacher, I am thrilled that she expressed her comprehension in such an eloquent way. Nicely done!"
